Housing & Dining Updates

Room selection for the 2024-2025 academic year is now complete! Any remaining students who did not select a room and applied before the May 15 deadline will be assigned by our staff. Students who applied after May 15 should continue to watch their email for additional details about their status for the upcoming year. All students who applied before May 31 will have housing for the upcoming year. Students who applied on or after June 1 will receive an update to their housing status via email on July 12.

Students who do have an assignment for the fall should take action on the following items no later than 8am on July 8:

  • If you have not done so already, review renter's insurance options from GradGuard.
  • Choose a meal plan for the upcoming year.
  • Select a bed configuration if you would like our staff to have your room set when you arrive.

    • Students will receive their final housing contract on Wednesday, June 26. These contracts will be become binding on Wednesday, July 3. After July 3, students who want to cancel their contract will be financially responsible per the Terms & Conditions of the contract.

    It's great to be a Hawkeye! Welcome to University Housing and Dining (UHD) at the University of Iowa. We are excited that you have chosen to live in the residence halls! This online portal is where you can submit your housing application, review communication from University Housing and Dining, explore our many living options, and view your roommate information, too! Begin your Hawkeye experience by logging in and clicking the 'Housing Application' tab in the menu bar.

    A Note to Parents:

    Welcome to University Housing and Dining! We look forward to your student participating in the many opportunities available in the residence halls and across campus.

    If your student has asked for your assistance with housing, we suggest providing guidance through the process, but it is important that your student be the one clicking through the screens and making the final submission. These actions occur with their University credentials - the HawkID and password - therefore, they must be the one who completes the application. If your student is under 18 years old, there will be a screen requesting your digital signature during the application process.
